Junior B Hurling Championship 2024

Any time you win a cup is a good day but for Buttevant winning the title was a necessity. They are in all honesty a middling Junior A team that entered a competition against teams that are down there struggling for survival e.g Rathpeacon and Ballyclough. So yes a nice win but one they were fully expected to do from the very start of the year

I would agree skinslad, yes they are only a middling junior A team but they got hammered in championship last year and this could have continued if they didn’t regrade. It is a risk going down because you could get stuck there. To be fair though it did look like they won all there games handy enough.

I looked up Buttevant's result in last year's Junior A Championship:

LC Gaels 5-13 Buttevant 1-8
Clyda Rovers 4-17 Buttevant 1-8
Buttevant gave a walkover to Ballyhea in the last group game.

Going by those results, hurling in Buttevant needed a change and a regrade was the correct decision by them. Yes they were very much the strongest team in the Junior B this year but a bit of silverware might give the hurling in the club a boost again going forward.

Buttevant face Ballyclough for the third time this year in the Junior B Hurling Championship. This time it’s the North Cork Final on Sunday… Buttevant by 7 for me.
