Cherry Orchard joyriders were arrested. Good work by the guards here. Too bad they are ‘juveniles’ who’ll have a sob story for the courts. Still, a bit of comeuppance for the scrotes.

They're minors so you wouldn't have held out too much hope that there would be any real consequences for them, but I wonder how much ramming the Garda car will change that? I think a report I heard this morning said that they were arrested for endangering the life of Gardai, that must be relevant to the outcome of their day in court?

There was a time when an article like this would have generated some change.

It's just generally accepted as a fact of life that O'Connell Street is a drug infested shithole. I've been on it a few times this past week and you don't spend any more on it than you have to, day or night.

And he's right, it could be a beautiful street. I have memories of going into Clearys with my grandmother when I was a kid. I can't even imagine my mother going there now.

On an aside I was on the quays yesterday and this fella was gleefully holding up a sealed clear plastic bag with a phone and a few other bits in it. Another fella walks towards him saying "did ye geh bayal or ar ye out?"

A sad pity of a capital city.
