Cyclists

I can be down to either.
If a crankset isn't cleaned every few months it will slip.
You're being a dick HemmY

That chain slip could have been caused by a number of different things, one way or the other its really shit luck and he's come out of its badly no matter what you think of the fella. One he got the slip the resistance went and he was fired off balance

I had a really similar incident years back, except it was a shear in my crank, should I have had the crank X-rayed regularly to identify the weakness?

Mandatory NCT for older bikes - to make sure they don't cause single vehicle crashes like with chicken-john, or worse, multiple vehicle accidents?

Most people maintain their bike because they realize the safety element of it is vital.. but shit happens no matter what. You can see RTB is fanatical about cycling, there’s no way he was riding around on a bike with stuff not working, or out of alignment

There are plenty of guys who are fanatical about their cars, and are always making fine adjustments to improve one aspect or other of their car. It still doesn't mean they don't have to comply with NCTs (nor should it). Not sure why you think that a guy who is fanatical about cycling should be above an independent safety check (if there was to be one) tbh.

ok.. lets go slowly here.. there is no bike NCT or anything like it so I wasn't suggesting the people who are fanatical about bikes should not be subject to your imaginary test

All I was saying is that HemmY got straight into trying to suggest that RTB was negligent about bike maintenance, and I pointed out that this is unlikely given the standard of bike he is cycling and his constant posting about his biking travails. It was a chain slip and the bike he is riding is a finely tuned instrument, it is unlikely he was cycling around with his derailleur out of sync, worn cassette or rings, stretched chain to that extent etc etc.

joking aside, m8s, if that had happened when he had some irate driver behind him blowing the horn or looking for a quick pass while he was in primary position it’d be game over for him. he’d have definitely been run over on the ground.

joking back on though yer man with “d’you fall of the bike is it?!”

😂😂😂
