2024 Senior A Hurling Championship

Good win, short a few players and there is a competition for places now.
Killeagh will still qualify i think, I thought the ref had a really good game.
Not so sure about Killeagh qualifying - they went to pieces in second half agains 14 men. Thought their 4, and 6 did well enough but as a team they seemed to lack purpose. That was a big losing margin to work back but think it might be a weak group alright.

Agreed on the ref too who didn’t buy any dives. Was following the ball so didn’t see red card incident but there were no complaints from those around me.

Killeagh tactics were crazy, playing a double sweeper at stages and still playing a sweeper when losing to 14 men. I think they set up to counteract Hoggy and when Hoggy didn't play they never changed the tactics ? I didn't see the red either but no one up me was complaining about it either. Killeagh had 25 subs listed on the programme!

I think inniscarra will get the upper hand over Killeagh they’ve a reestablished team compared to last year and tan killeagh close enough even though the score board didn’t reflect.
Glen are guaranteed to go through and I’d imagine killeagh will beat ballyhea.
Which will set up inniscarra and Killeagh to be a classic championship match
You are inniscarras biggest fan boy on here based on your post history anyways

Wide open but still hard to see beyond the Glen at this grade with Blarney, Bride and NaP challenging although NaP are down a number of very good players who are gone for the season between travelling and injury so it will be hard for them to replace these lads and still compete with the likes of the Glen

Blarney and glen final would be great, close enough to eachother too

Both with 3 players in the intercounty squad, and 5 All-Ireland Final starters between them - not bad going for two currently second tier teams.

Hopefully, IF the Glen make the final, we won't have anyone out injured/suspended.

It seems like this senior a grade is almost split into two tiers, some awful hammerings were given out last week. Could be in for more of the same throughout the group stage.

The reality is that the top 3 or 4 teams in Senior A are probably better than the bottom 3 or 4 teams in Senior premier so the re-grading has caused some level of imbalance. The league is not a completely reliable guide but for example NaP were relegated from Division 1 but they were decimated with injuries and were still competitive in most games - in Senior A they will meet no team of Division 1 standard aside from the Glen so they will surely have a right cut off it. Glen are still the team to beat though and the Downeys could do massive damage especially if Eoin is positioned out the field which he is well capable of dominating - he would be wasted at full back at club level. Lots of interesting games to look forward to

With the exception of Bishopstown I wouldn’t think that’s true. I would say Glen/Bride Rovers/Blarney would be about the same level as Newcestown/Fr O Neills/Charleville. But that’s going to be the case at all grades that too teams in one grade will be as good as bottom teams in higher grade.

I know the Glen suffered the drop (and hats off to B'town they turned up on the day and the Glen didn't) but overall I think relegation and promotion is healthy for Club hurling in Cork. Fewer teams getting hockeyed and teams having more than one "championship" match per year.
