United should bid for him.
Probably not too badly, if at all.
They'll take a portfolio view. They've got a lot of young talent tied down to long-term contracts.
- Some will succeed well at Chelsea and go on to be £100m+ players
- Some will succeed elsewhere, largely on loan, and be sold on for profit
- Some will stagnate, fail, spit the dummy and need to be moved on for a loss (...but in FFP terms, selling for materially less than you paid can still see you turn a profit in FFP terms on the player)
I'd fancy Poch, if he stays long enough, to minimise the amount that fall into that final category.
I think it's unlikely that they'll find themselves in financial trouble in the next 3-5 years and need to do a fire sale.
But whether their recruitment model will win them PL/CL titles during that period I'm less confident on.
