My sister lives in the US, but she went legally had to jump all the hoops, why should anyone be allowed to bypass the system.

Because the system is not fit for purpose. American industry needs immigrant workers to do the jobs that Americans don't want to do for wages Americans don't want to accept.

The don't want to legislate for increased immigration because of right wing "white is right" fuckwits, and also industry doesn't want to pay the sort of wages that might (and only might because workers rights in the US are shocking) be required if those immigrants were legal.

So they pretend that they are waging a war against illegal migration when in reality their economy couldn't survive without it.

Also, if your sister is a white woman who speaks English then the hoops she had to jump through were likely far less onerous than they wouldn't have been if she was a South American whose first language was not English. Any Irish person living in the US who is honest with themselves will acknoewledge that.
