Kinsale's 'Words by Water' Literary Festival takes place from October 2-5th. As always, it has a variety of events including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, local interest, workshops and a children’s programme. The festival will focus on celebrating Irish writers such as Niall Williams, Kit de Vaal and Fiona Scarlett, as well as Cork's finest Catherine Airey, Louise Hegarty, Patrick Holloway and Barbara Leahy. The weekend will also see an event by GAITKRASH Theatre Company. The trio will present two of Samuel Beckett’s later plays, Footfalls and Not I, in an experimental soundscape, guaranteed to be a unique and fresh experience. For younger readers, the festival is hosting a gratitude workshop in Kinsale Library, as well as an historical and educational walking tour of the town, especially designed with little minds in mind. For adults who are feeling creative, there is a calligraphy lesson, papermaking and two creative writing workshops.
