Bandon Folk Club is delighted to welcome VARO, the acclaimed Dublin-based duo of Lucie Azconaga and Consuelo Nerea Breschi. Known for their spellbinding interpretations of Irish traditional song, VARO blend folk, baroque and classical influences, weaving rich harmonies, drones and countermelodies into a distinctive, atmospheric sound.
Their latest album The World That I Knew features collaborations with some of Ireland’s leading folk artists, including John Francis Flynn, Ian Lynch (Lankum), Junior Brother, Anna Mieke and Alannah Thornburgh, and has been widely praised as “outstanding” and “a collective triumph”.
Performing as an expanded ensemble, they will be joined on the night by additional musicians. Support comes from Caoimhe O’Brien, a rising young folk singer from West Cork—promising a memorable evening of contemporary and traditional folk.
