THE 31ST DANIEL CORKERY SUMMER SCHOOL 2026
Now in its 31st year, the Daniel Corkery Summer School celebrates the life, work and enduring influence of one of Ireland's most important literary figures. This volunteer-led community festival brings together writers, historians, musicians and performers for a week of engaging events inspired by the rich cultural heritage of West Cork. This year's programme includes a student production of Macbeth, a talk by literary scholar Victoria Pearson, a Summer School concert, presentations on Inchigeela's stained glass and the 1962 Douce Mountain Survey, a performance by the Cratloe Players, and Michael Lillis reflecting on an Inchigeela man's role in the Northern Ireland peace process. The Summer School welcomes everyone with an interest in literature, local history and Irish culture.
