‘Our Evolving Relationship with Life Below Water’ uses UN SDG14 to explore items from Special Collections via a drop-in exhibition tour in Special Collections, UCC Library, a sound installation created in response to items in the exhibition and hands-on activities on UCC Library’s ground floor. The Special Collections’ drop-in tour includes maps, posters, prints and books of historical voyages of exploration and scientific investigations of seas and lakes to explore and consider how historical stories, discoveries and ideas from the 17th century to the present continue to shape and impact our world. The sound installation is based on field recordings from Lough Hyne, West Cork. We’ll provide colouring sheets & morla for you to create your interpretation of Life Below Water and to respond to SDG14. ‘Our Evolving Relationship with Life Below Water’ demonstrates why a greater awareness and understanding of SDG14 is required by all. An online exhibition will complement the event.
