Formed in Cork in 2021, Mirrors quickly established themselves on the Irish independent music scene. Over the past three years the band has gained recognition for their electric live performances having played sold out shows across Ireland. Drawing inspiration from iconic Irish bands like Virgin Prunes, The Cranberries, and My Bloody Valentine, Mirrors' music blends elements of shoegaze, progressive rock, and alternative music. This fusion creates a haunting and distinctive sound that pushes the boundaries of traditional rock.
In January, the band released their debut EP 'Envious of the Faithful' which received critical acclaim both in Ireland as well as the UK. Journalist Mike McGrath-Bryan remarked that the EP "has taken them through their own frames of reference to a Hiberno-centric line of melancholic alternative rock, marrying aspects of shoegaze, early Dublin post-punk, and broadly influential guitar pop to considerations of Irishness in modern times." Moreover, Mirrors were longlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition, underscoring their rising momentum since the year's start.
