Jessie Monk is an Australian avant-folk musician now based in Berlin. She weaves new stories with old threads, inspired by the Celtic and Appalachian folk traditions and more experimental mediums such as new-music and Butoh. Her sound is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Sam Amidon or Anna Mieke while her lyrics are inspired by the likes of Rilke and Ovid.
Her sophomore album, released in May of this year, is Mis O’ The Mountains, a concept album based on the myth of the ancient Celtic goddess Mis. She is touring Ireland with Conor Cunningham and we're delighted to host her for a cozy afternoon performance in Cork.
