The Red John Memorial weekend brings an action packed two day meeting of harness racing. The top horses from across the country will travel to Lyre to compete against each other at this racing event. Racing both days will start at 2pm and will feature both pacing and trotting events. There will also be children's entertainment onsite with food and drink options and on course bookmakers.
Harness Racing has a long standing tradition in West Cork and this weekend boast some of the best prizemoney on offer. It celebrates the life of 'Red' John O'Donovan, a racing enthusiast. With up to 10 horses in each race and races ran on the half mile grass track at Lyre you are never far away from the action. Ran under the rules of the Irish Harness Racing Association. Come and enjoy a day at the races with a difference on 13 & 14 September. A weekend not to be missed!
