Originally from Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, Eoin Coughlan moved to Cork where at just fourteen years of age, started busking and playing regular pub gigs. A few years later, moving to Dublin saw him emerging as one of the young singer songwriters on the scene.
His song writing skills along with his traditional guitar, bass playing and being a fluent Irish speaker, were noted by trad group Nomos and Eoin joined up with them in L.A in 1998. While on a six-week tour of America and Canada. For the three years he was with Nomos he embarked on four further U.S. tours, several European tours, an Australian tour and sporadic gigs and festivals as far off as Hong Kong.
Having toured with and supported the likes of Emmylou Harris, Baaba Maal, Paul Kelly, Bella Fleck, Arlo Guthrie and Billy Bragg, Eoin Coughlan has already gained a loyal following countrywide and regularly plays with his old companions from the singer songwriter nights. He has recently appeared as special guest to Gomez, Jack L and Billy Bragg. Now with a
debut EP "Live In Whelan’s" Eoin is looking forward to completing his first solo album later this year.
