Visual artist Eamonn Leahy presents a pop-up exhibition inspired by the waterways, landforms and rich heritage of Cork Harbour.
These new works aim to connect the past with the present, catching moments of the ever-changing region throughout the centuries. Through the mediums of charcoal, oil and acrylics, the artist takes viewers on a colourful journey. He illustrates scenes such as Dorothy Levitt setting the world's first waterspeed record and World War I soldiers pulling in a flying boat at the "Yankee pier" in Aghada. Influenced by old photographs and historical records, Leahy retells stories that have shaped the local landscapes and lives.
This pop-up exhibition has been kindly funded by Cork County and Creative Ireland through the Creative Start-up Scheme.
