DJ Jean, born Jan Engelaar, is a Dutch DJ and producer who achieved international breakthrough with the hit “The Launch” in 1999. His career began in the late 1980s, when he won the Dutch Mix and Scratch Championships. In the early 1990s, he became a resident DJ at the legendary Amsterdam club iT , where he made a name for himself with his energetic sets and innovative mixing techniques.
As one of the most influential DJs in Dutch dance history, DJ Jean has played a major role in the rise of house music. In addition to his success as a producer, he has released countless compilation albums and is and remains a fixture at dance events, festivals, and radio programs.
