Cork Nature Network is delighted to announce the online premiere of our short film Cork Otters. The free online screening will be followed by a panel discussion at 7:00pm on February 2nd.
The short film Cork Otters will bring you on a journey to discover Cork’s most elusive residents: the otters!
Ireland is a stronghold for European otters. Walking along the banks of the river Lee, you might catch a glimpse of these mysterious mammals.
This short documentary will offer you the opportunity to find out more about their habits, activities and playful communication.
To find out more about Cork’s otters, make sure you register for our free event and join us for a live discussion after the film’s screening, where you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions to our panel of experts:
Dr Tara Shine, international climate change negotiator and adviser to governments and world leaders on environmental policy. Dr Shine is also the film’s narrator;
Chris Moody, an illustrator and photographer with a keen interest in the River Bride and the urban otters
of Cork. Chris assisted with the filming of the documentary;
Dr Paddy Sleeman, Senior Researcher of the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (University College Cork) and mammal expert;
Dr Karen Loxton, Community and Development Officer at SECAD Cork and former Otter project manager;
Tom Mason, wildlife photographer and journalist, maker of the Cork Otter film;
Gill Weyman, Director and Chair of Cork Nature Network and project advisor of the Cork Otters film.
The film and the event are funded by Cork City Council, Lush, The Heritage Council and Patagonia.
We look forward to seeing you!
