Most arguments about gaming in Irish homes are not really about the games. They are about a child alone in a bedroom, talking to people nobody knows, for a length of time nobody is counting.
This hour is run by the team at WYLDE, the Cork esports organisation, who spent five weeks this summer running gaming camps for more than 80 local children and answered the same questions from parents at the door every morning. It covers what children are actually playing now, how contact and privacy settings work on those platforms, the skill and career paths that come out of gaming, and what a workable approach to screen time looks like at home.
It is practical rather than theoretical, and there is nothing to buy on the way out. Parents can come in person or join online from home.
