Deep in the wild heart of West Cork, where the Atlantic crashes against ancient copper-stained cliffs and mountains roll into the sea, one of Ireland's most spectacular outdoor challenges awaits. The Beast of Beara is back — and it's calling you. Taking place on Saturday, July 19th at 11am, the Beast of Beara is a 21.1km mountain trail adventure through some of the most breathtaking scenery on the Beara Peninsula. The route follows part of the famous Beara Way walking route, taking in the historic Allihies Copper Mines, Ternahillane, Goula, and stunning coastal trails — starting and finishing in the gorgeous village of Allihies.
Along the way, participants take on three magnificent peaks — Allihies Coppermine (250m), Ternahillane (250m), and the mighty Goula (340m ) with spectacular scenery and panoramic views at every turn. Facebook Whether you're an elite trail runner chasing a personal best or a walker looking for an unforgettable day out in nature, this event was made for you.

Renowned adventurer Pat Falvey, who has trodden a trail or two, has already given the route the thumbs-up: "I think it's one of the best routes in Ireland. And the best thing is anyone can do it." The Southern Star
This isn't just a race! It's a celebration of community, landscape, and the very best of rural Ireland. The Beast is organised by Garnish GAA, a small club with big dreams, nestled on the western tip of the Beara Peninsula, the furthest GAA club from Croke Park. Every entry directly supports the club's development fund and the local community groups that keep this special corner of Ireland alive.
The €50 entry fee covers registration, timing, entertainment, stewarding, and safety with all proceeds going to Garnish GAA's development fund and local community groups. So lace up your boots, breathe in that Atlantic air, and come see West Cork at its wild and wonderful best. Walk it, jog it, race its, or just get out there and face it.
