XL: We Own the Streets

We Own The Streets

TV crew with XL, Cork's enthusiastic music producer and free-runner

We all know the pain. The idea of forking out hundreds of beans to the TV Licence man only to have the cash re-routed to those ponces in Donnybrook (and thats not the one by Grange).

But finally we all have a chance to stick it to RTÉ, thanks to our man on the inside, Douglas's very own XL.

But who is this man of mystery? You may have already rubbed elbows with him in The Shed at the Cross or in the queue in Matty Kiely's.

XL is a free-thinker, free-spirit, free-runner, and self-styled music impresario.

Dark times are upon us. Sir Henry's is dúnta, Beamish has been watered down, and Matty has battered his last sausage.

So your boy XL grabbed the Aircoach and bate off in search of grade up in Dubland. In fact this self-professed grade-a-holic will, in his own words, "do ANYTHING for spons or nodge".

His talents have not gone unnoticed by fellow Leestraddler, filmmaker Alan Kavanagh. Alan has a daycent eye for cinema (he almost came top of his class in Colaiste Stiofan Naofa) as seen in his etherial, polemic thesis work "Rancid Ashes".

While on work experience with Alan, cameraman Ian came across a link on Bebo to our star XL and Alan saw some small screen potential in his mad skills.

We have all been subjected to RTÉ talent such as Marty Whelan, Derek Mooney, and Shirley Temple Bar for long enough.

Now its time for our boys to show them how its done. Hoping to bring back your hard earned TV Licence yoyos to the Peoples Republic, XL and his posse have bagged a spot on RTÉ's Storyland with their documentary We Own The Streets.
