In rural and urban Cork it is a cultural faux-pas for men to tan their entire upper bodies. Only from the sleeves down and the neck up should the brown stuff appear. Long hard days slogging it out in fields where you have to keep your t-shirt on or the flies and bits of field will guarantee death by a thousand cuts.
