With our twin city San Francisco now facing up to the reality of having a $38 billion debt and having an Austrian born Hollywood actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger installed as governor it would be interesting to imagine who the candidates might be should Cork ever find itself in a similar position - a EUR38 billion debt from false compo claims, main drainage overtime and a 20 billion euro School of Music.

The choice is not limited to Corkonians. In fact as Arnie is not Californian or even U.S. born in the first place perhaps we should ONLY consider non-Corkonians. *

Particularly with Lord Mayor Colm Burke doing his rounds of city schools at the moment establishments like the Vic and the Collabolla are clapping their hands as students take the day off having little interest in the drone of a Lord Mayor telling them to pick up litter, do their homework and to stop smoking Es. As with California, lets leave political integrity to one side and consider who could spark off enough interest to make a Cork student look forward more to the Lord Mayor's presence than the extra time they get to spend brushing up on their snooker and slot machine skills'
