the official ireland World Cup 2014 finals thread

Germany
Sweden
Republic of Ireland
Austria
Faroe Islands
Kazakhstan

With the 1) right manager and 2) the right approach we can make play-off for this.

Trap and his approach are neither!

Austria, Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan are all poor. Sweden are decent but nothing to fear either. Seems a long way to anything optimistic at this point though tbh!

Traps been in charge for two campaigns and gotten us to the play offs both times.

Great post bro. Backed up by facts.

Predictions:

Germany - no
Sweden - no
Austria - yes
Faroe Islands - yes
Kazakhstan - yes

hoping for the play offs at best

I don't think we'd have any chance against the germans, Sweden is do able (if Staunton can put out a team that can beat them, why can't anyone else).

The other 3 teams should be a simple formality but knowing us we'll make it hard for ourselves.

Austria would be on a similar level to us tbh. Over the last couple of years they have been improving. Have brought a lot of decent young players through.

Austria's sole purpose in this group will be to role over and take it up the hole for the motherland.

If we develop our game, we should have no fear of going head to head with Sweden. Those fuckers seem to have a serious knack of qualifying though.
