The Official Arsenal Thread - Part 2

He's been backed and he's going into season 6 in 24/25.

I can understand them giving him another crack after last seasons record breaking collapse as it could have been a once off.

Shirley out of the cups before the business end and no real improvement in the league should pave the way for a manager with a CV of winning trophies.

Cue 'something but but United'.
Will you shut up?

We don't want them to come to their senses!!

Shuuuuuusssshhhh

Listening to the Betfair football betting podcast just now.

Apparently Bumnal tweeted "a CL journey to be proud of" last night.
Betfair pundit remarked " Am I in the Maidstone United thread or what?"

Sure if you think QFs is good, maybe there's a reason you never won it?

Imagine what they could have won by now if they had stuck with Emery.

Havertz and Hey Zues were both dogshit last night. Some men to tack on a 3rd goal against Sheffield Utd. Crunch games in April, gone Marco.

The issue Arsenal have going forward is Arteta is that he is following big chunks of the Pep playbook - but with a lower quality first XI and squad (...understandably, given he's had less time to build the squad and less financial backing).

Can he reasonably expect to beat Pep's side, over a 38 game season, at their own game with an inferior squad (incl. two Pep cast-offs)?

Klopp's approach has/had its weaknesses, but it has the benefit of being quite differentiated from Pep's approach - so you're not left trying to be better than Citeh at their highly effective, but sterile, high possession / high control / highly structured attacking sequence approach.

It also lessons the degree to which you are competing with City for the same style of players and in the head-to-head games you have different weapons to use - which aren't Tesco value versions of City's ones.

It's entirely possible that Arteta continues to incrementally improve Arsenal each season but never gets a sniff of a title while Pep is still around.

They’re all good points, Arteta will definitely have to tweak his system to be different from Pep and I think he will.
The base players at the team are excellent and it’s clear to see that a prolific striker could vastly improve this squad. Also an individual type player like Alexis Sanchez could really help.

The squad also can be much improved by adding another good midfielder, Jorginho is good but his legs are gone.

I think we’ve gone too system based and it was individual brilliance that won it for Bayern in the end.

Disappointed to go out but getting passed Real or City would have been a mountain too high for this current team.

Ah stop Phil. He's spent a billion quid or thereabouts and inherited some top class youngsters in Saka, Martinelli, Saliba, & ESR (very unlucky with injuries imho). City won the league with 89 points last season and the most they can finish with this season is 91.

Impressive totals sure, but not unbeatable by any means. Plus, they were a zillion points clear last season, and threw away leads at Anfield (okay, fair enough, hard place to go) and West Ham (for fucks sake), drew 3-3 with Southamptom who couldn't bate eggs, before a meek abject surrender at the Etihad.

In this seasons CL they had a piss easy group, struggled past Porto in the last 16 and went out to the worst Bayern side in years, while failing to register so much as an attempt in the second half last night. Over the 4 knockout games, they had an xG of less than 3 goals.

That's just fucking dreadful (yes yes, I know, Utd are complete dogshit etc etc etc)

Arteta4life AFAIC. Even if they win the league this year.

Lol, that’s some funny logic.

You’d swear he’s the only one that spent money. You’d swear he was the only one to go out of the Champions League. You make it sound easy to beat Pep even though a better Liverpool only managed it once.

If he got the semis and got knocked out you’d come out with the same guff.
The truth is you’d never give any credit anyway as evidenced by saying Arteta4life even if he wins the league.

Time to head home from Noels for the day m8.

What do you want credit for?

For blowing the league title? Losing to the first good team ye played in the CL?

This is top class sport m8. It's a vicious meritocracy.

No remembers Quarter Finalists m8, no one
