The good service of nuns and priests

The Catholic Church's most senior bishop has expressed concern that the good service of nuns and priests in healthcare and education is being "obliterated" by a "narrow narrative" that "religious ethos cannot be good for democracy". Archbishop Eamon Martin's comments follow the weekend's protest against ownership of the National Maternity Hospital being given to the Order of the Sisters of Charity.

Here we go again, will they ever face reality and realise that their corrupt institution has been found out. The Catholic church has been hemorrhaging members for awhile now. It needs to acknowledge this and do more to understand why. Only if they acknowledge the exodus and understand it, will they be in a position to do something about it.

Evil was and is at all levels of the cathic church and they did and do nothing about it.

Yes the fine work that a lot of nuns and priests did has been completely destroyed.

And he is absolutely right. It doesn't diminish or justify or "balance" the horrific evils the institutional church has perpetrated on the most vulnerable in Ireland for decades in any way. But he is still right.

Some of those in the RC church are/were the most decent people you could hope to meet. They were truly Christian people.

Alas their reputation has been sullied because they belong to the same organisation as people who were put in positions of power in this country and completely abused it and thousands of people who were put in their care.

Their God won't be best pleased with those utter scumbags who used and abused his teachings to inflict misery and worse on their fellow man.

Of course he's right. Bad organisations and institutions often do good stuff. The Nazis built great roads, had advancements in medicine, supported the arts, helped with auto industry etc.
