In the next 12-24 months, this thread could get interesting.

Anyone currently "in the morket"?

This gaff is over a hundred years old. Decent garden here, that is if Douglas is our thing..

Closer to home, another fine garden here and a stone's throw from the VB&L:

Probably why the window is broken out the back

I recently moved into a new (rental) apartment in a Cork City suburb, which is lovely if a bit further from the centre than I'd have liked.

One thing I noticed is the amount of absolute SHIT that is available in Cork.

Say what you want about Dublin, but at least there's a decent standard of apartment if you're happy enough to pay a reasonable rent.

In Cork you have the choice of paying a few K for the Elysian or down by UCC, or else you're into some damp and decaying building posing as an apartment block.

That Douglas house needs at least €120 - €150k put into it as it is only a D2 BER rating. It needs a fill refurb and an extension at least.

I presume your point is that they are relatively cheap? Neither house is very big, both need to be extended although plenty of garden there to do so

Covid certainly has boosted House prices/Sales in just about all rural areas. Skye, West highlands, locals have no chance to get on the ladder, prices going through the roof (again) waiting lists. English refugees....

The second house needs work for sure but the first one in Douglas really needs that much spent on it?

That would bring the cost of it up to half a million, a huge price for a semi-detached house in the suburbs.

It would need a heating upgrade at some stage alright but it didn't look that bad from the pics.
