Noel Coward’s iconic comedy, Private Lives opens at the Everyman Palace Theatre. Presented by Proscenium Productions and directed by Mary Curtin, Private Lives previews on 25th June and opens on 26th June for a three week run.

A divorced couple are accidentally re-united when they book adjoining rooms in a hotel, while on honeymoon with their new spouses in France. Amanda and Elyot immediately realise that they still love each other and elope to Paris, where their renewed passion for one another is rapidly offset by a slew of violent and aggressive arguments.

Noel Coward’s singular gift for dialogue is perfectly captured in this eccentric and witty play. Full of one-liners and Coward’s particular brand of English humour, Private Lives recalls the glamour and elegance of the 1930’s.

An astounding polymath, Noel Coward was a much imitated actor, writer, composer, lyricist and painter. Like Woody Allen and Oscar Wilde, Coward is recognised as a master of droll, dialogue-led humour. His celebrity and success reached its peak with Private Lives, by which time he had become the highest earning author in the western world.

Private Lives is directed by Mary Curtin and designed by Jim Queally. Cast includes Joy Buckle, Ann Dorgan, Ian McGuirk, Michael Murphy and Rachel O’Connell. Private Lives previews at the Everyman Palace Theatre on Wednesday 25th June and Opens from Thursday 26th June to Saturday 12th July.
