Despite the provision of a number of reasonably hygienic swimming pools around the city, such is the bond between Corkonians and their county they still insist on bonding with nature by jumping into their beloved River Lee. For almost 78 years feens (and the occasional beour) have been jumping from the 160 foot wide structure known as The Shakey Bridge into the waters below and the tradition is still going strong in 2005.

The decptively large drop (at least 0.02 kilometres) has allowed Northsiders in particular to determine the sexuality of their male offspring from quite an early age.
