Point-to-Point Keg Race for Charity

POINT TO POINT

A unique manly competition will take place this Sunday between two Cork pubs to raise money for Cork charities.

Teams of healthy, strong, able bodied Corkmen, the finest men the People’s Republic has to offer, will carry Beamish kegs between The Star on Lancaster Quay up to the lofty heights of An Réalt Dearg on Barrack Street and back.

Ready, Keggy, Go! A student at The Star on his way to UCC.

First to finish wins a massive prize but aside from the short-term liquid and materialistic gain just imagine the decades of fame as you and your teammates are written into Cork history as the champion keg rollers/lifters.

PINT TO PINT

All participants will be treated and rewarded with pints at their destination, assuming they make it of course. So if you and your gang fancy yourselves as keg carriers then be at The Star well before 2pm this Sunday December 18th.

The cost per team of six humans (mules are free of charge) is just €30 and you can be assured that your money will be well spent – staying right here on Leeside and going to good causes.

Breathing equipment suitable for the alpine heights of Barrack Street will not be available and death is at your own risk. Participants found ordering taxis to carry their keg will be stripped of their Cork citizenship.

Entertainment will include the Barrack Street Brass Band, a choir and a big traditional seisiún at the Star until close.
