Default 'Bonna Night'

I can smell the first bonfire of the evening anyway....the stench coming in the window is appalling and the plumes are rising.

Just wondering, is it only in Cork we celebrate Bonfire Night or is it all over Ireland - never really thought about that until now.

Haven't heard any sirens yet - but only a matter of time...The sky is black though

Thank you. That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure. This is my first year being around for one in a while....I normally take my holidays around this time of year and am out of the country. Alas, I'm going away a week later this year, so I get to bask in the plumes of smoke and cough my way through the night....

http://ocaoimh.ie/2005/06/23/bonfire-night/

It is because of St Johns Night apparently, they have it in Spain too.

It is a big festival here too San Juan obviuously, but they celebrate by jumping in to the sea backwards, to get rid of bad luck.
