If you stick to Toronto area you wont have to speak french, eastern Ontario and Quebec, New Brunswick, definately. Vancouver you will have to learn all the asian languages. Alberta is fine and booming, but alot of cowboys out there, the praries are full of nothing really ..fields It might be warmer for five/six months of the year, the rest of the time is fucking freezing, it took me about 4/5 years to get used of the cold. VAncouvers weather though is more mild in the winter, and they get a lot of rain.

What ya talkin' bout Willis? No, he does not need to learn all the Asian languages for Vancouver (even though there are a lot them there). Stop frightening him off.

Well it will help, if he is dealing with the public. and there is A LOT of Asians there. My vote he should go to Ontario or Alberta. British Columbia is beautiful, no doubt, but I would not want to live in Vancouver City, but if he is asian, a member of green peace or likes to hug trees then no problem

If you want to work as an electrician here in Canada having done your training in another country you will have to sit a test to show that your qualifications are adequate.
I work in a Cabinet workshop here in Vancouver and I am one of the few white people working here, mostly Indians and Filipinos, they all speak their own languages so I'm always in the lunch room on my tod because I can't communicate with any of them.
Alot of the people who come to Canada from the various Asian countries can't speak a word of English or French.
Most of Canada speaks English, Quebec and New Brunswick are, for the most part, French.

Learning all the Asian languages?
He better get cracking so. With a bit of luck he will be all sorted by 2015.
Toronto is the spot lad. It gets cold in winter though. I know that might seem obvious but it does. I wouldn't bother going through an agency or even USIT. Anything they can organise for you then you can do yoursef. Although i am not sure what the VISA status is like there. I think you have to apply a few months in advance.
Also it might not be a bad idea to verify that your sparky qualification is valid in Canada before you go.
Could be a nasty surprise.
