| Martina Stafford is a Wexford born singer songwriter who has recently emerged on the Cork music scene. Already creating a buzz amongst musicians Martina's voice is truely mesmerising. Drawing influence from the greats, Martina looks up to artists such as Tom waits, Joni mitchel, Etta James, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Van Morrisson and the more recent Mick Flannery. However,her style is truely her own along with her intriguing lyrics which make her stand out from the crowd. Her soulful sound is haunting and way beyond her years! Cork guitarist Jimmy Hoey had been playing for many years. His style draws on Jazz and Spanish guitar influences. His high standard of ability on the guitar along with his creative flare have seen him playing in the likes of Cyprus Avenue and The Lobby. The musical collaboration between Martina and Jimmy has created alluring melodies and unforgettable lyrics that will be etched in your mind. For the last 6 months the pair have been gigging on the Cork music scene with ever increasing interest in their edgy take on classic sounds. At the same time they are currently completing the recording of their first album. |
