Info/Biography
Steve Whelan a family man and patron of Youghal has a very down to earth approach delivering his music with a spirit of honesty presence and grit. His smokey vocals married with his simple but poetic and addictive melodies produces a musical honesty and edge posessed by few writer composers. His influences range from Ben harper , The Beatles to Gospel and Spiritual music. From the opening MAKE THAT CHANGE steve ventures through the doors of his influeneces and emerges with his own statement. He sings - Wistful,-'LIKE BEES' and YOUNG LOW,angry CURSED MEMORIES,celebratory MAKE THAT CHANGE earnest THE LAST WALK yearnng DONT YOU CRY. All this and always captivating, the songs reflect a musical artist with a rare aspect:sincerity.Changes come and changes go-what is wrong and what is right-The world is full of changes, those words undline this albums brilliantly unassuming message each song, like family members sparks off one another but is bound by they're direction from the heart to the listner steve's reluctant ego allows his songwrintng quality to merge perfectly with his backing musicians on THE LAST WALK Its a labour of love so step up and have a listen. The album recorded at Claycastle studios Youghal features A band of brothers Bobby Lee-guitar,bass & Backing vocals Tony Kylie - Guitar Jason Brown & Michael Twomey - bass Kieran McCarthy & Neill Whyte - Drums George simkin - Guitar
