| Electronica nursery rhymes, multimedia. Collaboration. M.A.D. theory or Mutual Assured Destruction was a cold war theory stating that should one superpower attack the other, both would be annihilated. It ensured that a peaceful balance was maintained. Primarily, we thought it was a cool name! But it does evoke our formative years, the early eighties, when nuclear war was a cloud that hung over our heads. We tried to imagine the future: Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, drum machines, Pong and Futureshock (2000ad). The balance of collaboration is also implied. madtheory is Tomas Mulcahy, Ken Hayes and friends. Influences: Peter Gabriel, Jean Michel Jarre, William Orbit, Claude Debussy, Steve Reich, Mike Oldfield, Mussorgsky "remixed" by Ravel. |
