Info/Biography
FRED are a five piece from Cork City who take the anguish, angst and pain out of rock‘n’roll, opting instead to just be really good. Some journalists interpret this as ‘quirky’, but FRED’s achievements both live and in their recorded output far exceed any ‘quirky’ flash in the pan.
With complete indifference to lazy journalism and all things cool FRED write and perform music they really want to hear written and performed. Musically they acknowledge such legends as Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, and The Beach Boys as well as tipping their hat to such contemporaries as Wilco and The Flaming Lips.

February 2005 finally saw the release of their follow-up album ‘Making Music So You Don’t Have To’. The launch night was a packed Opera House in Cork City with a thousand sweaty bodies celebrating the birth of 11 glorious new tracks. This record while still in it’s infancy is taking on a life all of it’s own as FRED finally upped the ante in the logistics department and secured a nationwide distribution deal as well as mounting a concerted PR campaign.

This has seen the album receive rave reviews in every national print journal (Hot Press, The Irish Times, The Irish Examiner, The Irish Independent, RTE Guide) as well receiving airplay on all the major national and regional radio stations (highlights include being selected as Rising Artists on Tom Dunne’s Pet Sounds as well as being invited back to do another live session for John Creedon). They’re also continuing to notch up the TV appearances (RTE 2’s Sattitude, and TG4’s Ardán).

But the real measure of their success was a comprehensive national tour that saw the band pack out venues night after night, occasionally in towns in which they had never even played before!
