Pub Festival for Cork
The Decades Festival, a new music festival on Corks summer calendar, will
take place in pubs all over Cork city centre on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd
August 2009.
This unique festival developed and organised by Cork publicans in conjunction with the VFI, promises music, madness, fancy dress and fun as 38 pubs in the Cork city island invite you to step back in time.
Supported by Carlsberg and 96FM, Cork citys pubs will each host a decade for the weekend, providing music and entertainment from their chosen era. There will also be a city-wide exemption (i.e. bar extention) on Friday and Saturday night.
Every pub will
be making a special effort to create an illusion of times past with both staff
and venue dressed to reflect their decade and we want to encourage our customers
and visitors to dress up as well
let's make Cork one big fancy
dress party for the weekend!
With a wide variety of pubs and music genres to visit, a trail map will be available
soon around the city, which will be your guide to the venues and their decades.
Also check out the website www.decadesfestivalcork.ie for new information regarding bands and entertainment in the city over the weekend as well as a helpful guide to the decades and some great ideas for fancy dress costumes.
So whether you missed the 60s, man; always wanted to frequent a 20s speakeasy or fancy reliving the punk days of the 80s, Cork city centre is the place for you.
