Default WhatsApp Alternatives
The New York Times says that Facebook plan to integrate Whatsapp, Instagram & Messenger.

So, Whatsapp will no longer be private (I assume). Time to ditch it, if that happens?

What to use instead?

The problem with all such apps is how do they get traction. Signal, Viber etc no use if your contacts don't have them installed as well.

There would have to be a large scale revolt against Zuckerberg, for alternatives to take off. That said, maybe the revolt is building...

Viber is less secure than WhatsApp. Signal is the way to go. Have been using it for a couple of years. Has a great desktop add-in as well.
