This rough Glasgow thing is a load of outdated bullshit. Glasgow is a thoroughly modern European city with plenty to do and see. It's actually a far better city for a night out and shopping (If you're into that). Everything a lot more central. Edinburgh is beautiful and well worth a visit - has a real old world feel to it. A lot more touristy though. No reason why you couldnt get the train through to Edinburgh from Glasgow for the day.

Yep, Glasgow is much better for nights out, friendlier than Edinburgh, much better shopping and cheaper. Aberdeen is a grey shithole avoid. Dundee is just a big town.

Might want to give the trains a few days though, landslide on the Edi-Glasgow line is causing havoc.

Glasgow is grand, personally, I'd bunker down in Edinburgh and head to Glasgow for a day trip. Or alternatively, St Andrew's or North Berwick.

Glasgow and Edinburgh are fantastic places, but like any big city you need to keep your wits about you, especially late at night, and when you're intoxicated that can be a lot easier to say than do
