Default Apple iMac won't complete loading

Hey wise ones,

herself has an iMac and the loading bar very, very slowly progresses to the end of loading but then goes no further.

I have been into Recovery mode and scanned disk and nothing came back as a problem. I can't seem to get it to open in Safe Mode either.

A bit of online research suggests it might be a problem with recent OS updates.

I'm only a couple of steps above herself in understanding anything about this stuff, which is close to nothing, but she is self-employed and needs it fixed asap. Compu-b where she bought it said it would take 5-7 days before they would be able to get back to her with a diagnostic...too long.

Any thoughts or good local referrals please??

Need you to provide more detail....

How old is your iMac ?
What version of MacOS are you running?
Do you have the drive backed up ?

Took it to iConnect up in Doughcloyne...long story short had it backed up on time machine from feb and they re-installed it since then as they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't load. they were great though, phoned regularly to keep us updated and had it done in the day.
