Hoping he can spearhead the Galway challenge this year.

Anything else?
didn't the young lad Merida break a pre-contract agreement with Barca to sign with Arsenal?

Not sure about that but apparently his agent hawked him to ManYoo, the Arse and Madrid.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't ethics that stopped United taking him on.

I think that was the case, more his agent than the buying club being in the wrong. still, in a few years people might well be claiming he was plucked from obscurity, but we'll all know better

Wenger has to be right up there. Arsenal are a joy to watch most of the time and his record in developing young kids is superb. The fact that he has £70m available to spend but doesn't want to blow it on any superstars say a lot. Why disrupt the momentum of a team that is progressively moving forward?

relative obscurity

its all relative.

no guarantee that a 16 year old will make it, witness LeTallec and Pongolle.

Wenger's genius for spotting a player is unrivalled in the modern game

Absolutely

He has done a terrific job and like Fergie keeps rebuliding teams again and again

He may have only won half the titles as Fergie in their time together but as you say he has spent less

Pete Hill Wood

"Arsène's basically spent, since he's been with us, £4m to £5m a year net."

Oh and add another to his eye for a player

George Weah from the world renowned Tonnerre Yaoundé.
