Sports companies and organisations are shooting themselves in the foot. It's all very shortsighted chasing the tv revenue but this means they loose out on exposure to the casual fans. Viewing figures for the cricket world cup on sky were pitiful by all accounts. Compare that to the viewing figures for the women's world cup they got 11 million viewers for the semi final on the BBC.
I haven't watched a round of golf since the BBC lost the rights to the majors. There's Talk that the rugby 6 nations will be moving behind the paywall from 2021. Again I only watch the 6 Nations and autumn friendlies and once they move from terestial tv then I and my kids will no longer bother with it.
Good article on it here.

There's still a few morons (like Triggs) willing to fork out stupid money for access to limited number of games.

Tbf things like vpns and iptv are probably like rocket science to them.

“I save two grand a month, and I spend money like it’s going out of fashion. Forty quid a month for sky sports is too much though”
