Default Traveling throught America - What must i do??

Similar to the Europe thread, apart from the obvious, name some off the wall things to do on a trip across the states.

Preferably the mid-southern states.

An English course, maybe?

Although, on second thought, probably not...........

Are you travelling East to West? How long do you plan on doing it for? Do you plan to drive it or fly it across, stopping in various cities?

yea, going east to west, planning on spending about 4 weeks doing it, no real plan but looking to start in northern California, go south and travel across the southern states then up to New York or Boston. Oh, and going to try not to fly.

You'd get loads done in 4 weeks, could see quite a bit but not spend the whole time driving either. One way car rental for that time and dropping off 3,000 miles away could be expensive especially in terms of the one way fee you'd be paying.

as Bongo said, start with the compass anyway Just a suggestion, have a look into a multihop rail ticket. Car hire one way isn't going to be cheap.
