And a cinema, pubs, cafes, sports shops, banks, and a bloody church!

What more do they want ffs?

Id be more concerned about the decline of shandon street. With the bells and museum its such a tourist draw its a shame its so run down.

It is not just North Main St. The route from Blackpool up Gerald Griffin St and down Shandon St is badly neglected and an eyesore of empty shops ,pubs and dilapidated vacant buildings.
Badly need a rejuvenation plan ,both architectural and financial tax incentive for re-development.
Back in the day these were thriving communities. Now people have moved to the suburbs and left behind decaying inner city near ghost towns.
Ideal opportunity for the twatterati to move in and avail of the cheap rents to set up Bohemian night life area ,as has been done in many inner cities in Uk and USA.
Inner city apartment living has many advantages, such as a buzzing social scene on the doorstep and no car ,no traffic problems.
Spend your free time sipping on a Latte or a Sauvignon Blanc ,instead of struggling thru' a traffic jam for hours to the leafy shades of suburbia.
And the greatest social kudo of all, you get a Norrie Passport once you cross over the North Gate Bridge into Gods Garden of Goul na Spurra/ which is the intersection of Blarney St and Shandon St, and was a Garden/ Market Area before private property developers, seized it, privatised and gated it.

Anybody any other suggestions?
Extend the city boundaries out and take in all the industrial and commercial areas around the city, that will increase the income to the city council very effectively

One local authority for city and county, reckon you'd save about €10m p.a.

Don't feel so sorry for the chemist, quite responsible for the down turn in the north main street.

The Vicarstown. He's only a stake in BDSM. The Oval is on South Main street.

Or immigrants. Could have our own little Brick Lane. Have actually predicted Blackpool becoming the city's muslim area in a few years. A new lease of life injected into the place with old buildings being eventually bought up and leased out by and within their community. The natives will either die off or become upwardly mobile and didi mao. Those left behind will hounded out, Dutch Gold in hand. The hipsters and local media will love it. Real ethnic loike. Swap crosses for cresents on local places of worship and that should see a booming Blackpool back to life.
