Unhappy PSP's- A freakin idiots guide.

I am a freakin dope when it comes to psp's. They have me addled. Addled.
What i want to do is run old snes, nes, megadrive and psx games on my PSP.

I am currently running v2.81. My understanding is this.

Upgrade to 3.03 so i can downgrade to 1.50. I have to install devhook on my card then which will allow me to run games. Correct?

Right, i downloaded a file called PSP_303_UPDATE which is about 20mb in size. I extracted it and am left a file called EBOOT.PBP
I dumped this file on my memory stick and................. .................not hing happend.
Still have 2.81 firmware. What exactly am i doing wrong. I went on the psp-hacks.com live chat where some helpful fella was telling me i need to downgrade first, then upgrade, then downgrade again.

At this point i was addled.

I went into the forums and had a gander around and all the tutorials seemed far too advanced for a simpleton like me who is trying upgrade his firmware to 3.03 from 2.81.

I have bothered lestat and dan already with this but i am hoping they can shed a bit of light on this. What am i doing wrong or should i not be even trying this carry on if i am getting stuck at upgrading the blasted thing.

I got my upgrader and downgrader from this site
http://homepage.eircom.net/~pspcalo/downgrade.html

I got PSP Devhook 2.71-3.1 Hybrid mod from a kind fella who sent it to me via megaupload.

Any help is gratefully received, the gameboy is dangerously close to coming out at this stage.

Thanks.

I also have the correct version of GTA LCS,

Fecks sake.

Running the easy upgrader. It tells me to plug in my psp, the psp is in USB mode and has mounted on the dekstop but the upgrader still says "connect your psp to your computer".
Disabled anti virus software and same thing.

Didnt realise the EBOOT.PBP had to be in a specific folder on my PSP. Created a folder called PSP/GAME/UPDATE and lobbed the file in there.
Ran it by going to memory stick and running, worked fine. Put me up to 3.03, then i ran downgrader and am now running firmware 1.50.

All uphill from here?

Nearly shat my pants when i ran devhook and pressed start when i didnt have any game, she frooze for a while, i knocked her off and back on and all seems well from here.
Where is good for emulators and Roms?

Do i need to put the emulators and roms in specific folders on my psp?

I'm using just 3.03 OE-C for running ISO of PSP games. You just install it and format your memory stick and then there is a folder in the root called iso and dump stuff in there! You can run ps1 games too but don't have a big enough mem stick to store them at the mo.using Daedalus for N64 emulation but its fairly crappy tbh was able to play mario kart but the frame rate is hideous. There should be plenty of emulators out there for the genesis and Snes and you can get torrents with every game ever made on them so only thing limitng ya is the memory stick size!

Sound parrot bait,

Reckon will suss out Devhook for a while, can you reccoemend any good snes and nes emulators? Are the games called ROMS or iso's. In my day they were called ROMS.

Can i run a multiple emulators on my card, including a PSX one using devhook.
My card is 2gb, that big enough?

Biggest game for the PSP(they're ISOs) that I've heard of is 1.5GB which is tomb raider rest can vary from 150MB to 1GB really.Found out that the best snes emulator is http://yoyofr92.free.fr/psp/snespsp.html and the games are roms. There should be instructions with the emulator on where to put the roms. As for the genesis one just check out http://www.psp-hacks.com/?p=83 and http://pspupdates.qj.net/ and you should find out more about that. I've a 512 card and it fits plenty
