I went with the android box as there is a huge selection of tv players and useful apps like utorrent and stuff

What would you be looking the use the box for?
Mostly for playing Blu-rays & videos off my hard drive. Would be cool to stream a few sports channels as well.

Did you get a wireless keyboard with yours? I don't think I'd find use for that tbh

Check if your TV supports CEC - if it does then you can use your TV's remote. All you really need is up-down-left-right and enter - you can use Yatse on your phone for anything more complicated.

It's a lot faster, it's got a wicked bad GPU in it.

Sorry slick, i only noticed this post now

In that case the M8 would be fine. At the moment I have es file explore which is perfect for accessing my nas.

I did have the keyboard and mouse at the start but was a dose trying to hide them with the smallies around so yesterday i bought the droidmote app for my samsung s5 for 2.90 which is actually quite good

I chucked out an 8 year old MacMini under the TV and replaced it with a Raspberry Pi 2 streaming from a NAS box connected via ethernet. Night and Day the difference in picture quality. Using OpenELEC to run Kodi. All is going great. Must try Genesis. Currently everything is just running straight from the NAS

I still use my NAS for TV shows and stuff. Genesis is a pox to navigate.

Still using the NAS but not as much , while genesis is a really good addon , it can be a bit flaky and gives "stream unavailable alot "
