Default Business Analyst

Business analyst required - Dublin

Job purpose
Support the Chief Financial Officer and the Finance team of a Global Insurance business based in Dublin in the discharge of their Accounting duties. This is a great opportunity for an experienced IT professional. Previous project experience, IT literacy and the ability to work in a constantly changing environment is a must, as well as a detailed understanding of the insurance industry. This is a fixed term contract for an initial period of 6 months, so an immediate start would be highly desirable.

Dimensions and operating environment
As an experienced professional you will be responsible for applying business process and IT knowledge to create solutions for existing business issues, and to develop and implement automations for current inefficient workflows. The main aim of your work will be to implement new solutions and strategies that would improve the Management Information reporting process.


* Diagnosis of existing work flows and practices so as to develop business and functional requirements to create the optimal solution for internal business processes.
* Development of automated solutions to existing work practices using advanced MS Access and other relevant skills
* Reconciliation of existing databases through the development of common datafields.
* Review of existing databases, assessing accuracy and reliability of information contained therein and the development of tools to facilitate extraction of raw data in a usable format
* Liaise with the business to understand business requests and develop detailed business requirements documents.
* Create data flow and process maps.
* Submit business requirements to Central IT in UK (where relevant) and act as point of reference for IT project management team in relation to queries regarding business requirements.
* Communicate regular updates to the business on system change requests confirming project progress against milestones, project status, issues identified to date and any risk/dependencies that have been identified by the IT project team.
* Continually seeks to identify areas of improvement within the business area.
* Implement approved workflow changes.
* Work within a governance framework to ensure that all changes are properly reviewed and approved.
* Troubleshoot and resolve reported issues.
