I called him to tell him our son was put on oxygen and right at that second the cop was beside him on the motorbike.

He told him what happened and apologised, the cop said everyone has a story I can't believe all of them but if you can prove to me that your son is in a high dependency ward within the next 24 hours we'll forget about it. We could and did and he emailed us back the next day saying that's good enough for me and wishing our son a speedy recovery.

Absolutely sound.
Can't argue with that really - top garda'ing...

Tiz indeed.

It weird to think that there are people out there that would say their child is in a bad way, just to get out of a fine.

I find if you treat them with manners you get it back for the most part.

Its the lack of visible presence on the streets thats the problem.
I can appreciate them being understaffed but they need to do some actual policing.
Double parking by centra to buy grub doesnt count.

I was getting a passport form signed there lately in Cork Garda station and to be fair to the two Gardai on duty, they gave two of my kids a tour of the cells. It has turned out better for me than the naughty step

Case in point, young fella unconscious outside MickeyDees in Daunt square a few weeks ago, ten at night, two shades double park down by the side of the church and proceed into Centra to buy their grub.

He was a danger to himself, theyre more interested in their food.

Lovely, inoffensive bunch of lads.

Strong points: orienteering. Always good with a tourists map and to point you in the right direction.

Weaknesses: fighting crime.
