Default Mozilla Firefox v's Explorer

What's the difference between these? I've both on my laptop but can't tell the difference between them for using the net.

firefox is faster, better pop-up blocker, tab browsing options are better, you can put your favourite sites across a bar at the top of firefox. can't think of anything that IE is better at

Hmm, ok, ta. I'm still getting the hang of actually being in charge of my own pc instead of just having a work one. It was working great a few days ago and yesterday for no apparent reason it kept seizing up, took about 10 mins to open the internet and everytime it opened it crashed, the dvd playback was sticky. I rebooted it a couple of times and that made no difference.
Would that be a virus doing that?

some web based applications don't work too well with firefox - oh and every now and again it seems to just shut off. - however it does stop all the spyware and shit that you get on your machine if using IE
