Default Wanted : a good proxy server.

Trying to download a podcast from bbc.co.uk , the swines say its only open to Uk listeners. Does anybody know a good UK based proxy server that will allow me to get around this?
Thanks in advance.

Ive used some of the UK proxies on http://www.samair.ru/proxy/ to successfully watch the BBCs iPlayer before. But be prepared for a decent bit of trial and error until you find one that actually works with the Beeb.

Thanks.

Very stupid question but the last time i used anything like a proxy was the-cloak.com which i suppose is more proxy avoidance .

How exactly do i use the proxies that you mentioned.

Otto if you are using internet explorer go into tools => internet options => connections => lan settings => proxy server => advanced .... enter a proxy here and tick the little box.

I should setup a proxy on my home machine, but I couldnt be arsed. I think the opposite way around works, a lot of the rte streams work fine (even stuff limited to Ireland) in the UK.

The way the proxies are listed on that site, the first part is the IP address (the bit before the colon). The number after the colon is the port number. So for example 81.19.55.9: 8000 means that you put in 81.19.55.9 as the Proxy server address and 8000 as the port. To put it in in IE just do what Kon says above. In Firefox its under Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Settings.

Oh and dont forget to turn it off when youre done! Just change the setting back to direct connection to the Internet after.

As for Irish proxies, I never managed to find a decent working one....
