NOD32 is what im using these days.
Its so light on resources you wouldnt even know notice it running.
Your PC will be superfast when you compare it to norton.
At only a 12mb download too, its very desireable.
Ive used most antiviruses out there and never liked one so much.
When it updates the definitions which are really small and regular,
you get a descrete balloon in the bottom right corner.
Updates do not require any user intervention at all.

AVG is a great free antivirus, never seen anyway with a bad word to say about it.

PC Cillin would be the best out of the All in One Packages,
which include Firewall, Anti Fraud, Anti Spam, Intrusion Detection etc....
Much lighter than Norton or McAffee anyway.

For antispyware, Ad-aware SE is my favourite.
The free version is fully functional too.

Actually anyone who comes to me with a new computer from sound store and the likes....
The first thing i will do for them, is uninstall norton!

The improvement in realiability and speed is astonishing.

AVG AV
AVG Anti Spyware
Spybot S&D
Zone Alarm - Firewall

Remove Norton - you'll need to boot into safe mode to do it properly - when in safe mode goto/start/run and type msconfig
select the startup tab and untick any instance of either norton or symantec

restart in normal mode and remove norton.
then simply run the executables of the above programs...

All above are free and Spybot has some excellent features when used in advanced mode...

Kaspersky Antivirus, NOD32 or Avira. All excellent solutions.
